About Iron Passport

Who this is for

If you lift, run, or train and you're on the road — for work, a trip, or a relocation — Iron Passport helps you find a real gym in an unfamiliar city, see what a day pass actually costs, and decide whether it's worth your workout before you show up. We built it because hotel gyms are usually a folding bench and a treadmill, and figuring out where lifters actually train in a new city used to mean scrolling reviews on five different apps.

How gym data is sourced

Every gym in the directory starts from a real, independently verifiable source, not a model's guess. Listings are seeded from OpenStreetMap data (with Google Places used as a secondary discovery source for chain locations), then enriched with AI to fill in descriptions, amenities, and category detail. New and AI-touched listings sit in a draft state and require human review and approval before they go live — nothing is auto-published, and we do not invent gyms that don't exist. Member reviews and ratings on gym pages are real, user-submitted reviews, not generated text.

How gyms are ranked

Listings are ordered by verified, traveler-relevant facts: gyms with a confirmed day pass come first, then by day-pass price. Quality scores appear on a listing only when they are backed by verified evidence from real visits — otherwise no score is shown.

What our badges mean

Some listings carry a small badge next to the gym name. Most gyms in the directory show no badge at all — that's the default, unclaimed state, and it doesn't mean anything is wrong with the listing.

• Claimed— the gym's owner has verified ownership and can edit hours, pricing, and other details directly. Claiming is free; see claiming your listing.
• Pro — the gym sells guest passes directly through Iron Passport (Gym Pro). Pro gyms are also verified owners, so this badge replaces the Claimed badge rather than stacking with it.

Neither badge affects a gym's ranking or score — ordering is always based on verified, traveler-relevant facts (see above), never on claim or payment status.

Editorial policy

• AI is used to help draft gym descriptions and city guides, but a human reviews and approves every draft before it publishes.
• There is no pay-for-placement. A gym's ranking is not for sale. Gym owners can claim their listing for free to correct hours, pricing, and details; the paid Gym Pro tier only affects whether a gym accepts first-party guest-pass requests through the site, and any such placement is clearly labeled — it does not change organic ranking.
• Reviews are from real users. We don't fabricate ratings, and gym pages omit review counts and dates entirely rather than make them up.
